Jurgen Klopp has reportedly already turned his attention to another potential midfield arrival this summer, following the reportedly imminent signing of Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo.
Liverpool have so far officially welcomed just two fresh faces this summer, in the form of Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
What's the latest on Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool?
The Reds' need for midfield reinforcements this summer is no secret, especially after they missed out on Moises Caicedo, and Romeo Lavia. And, with that, Klopp is "already" personally pursuing Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch, according to Manuel Bonke, via Sport Witness.
The original plan was for the Dutchman to stay put at the Bundesliga giants, but a tough time settling into things under Thomas Tuchel has once again led to questions over the midfielder's future, who Klopp is pursuing.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds will make an offer for Gravenberch in the coming weeks, but given his discontent at the Bavarians, they could be well-placed to land his signature for the right price.
If they welcomed the former Ajax man, alongside Endo, then Liverpool could have themselves a solution in the middle of the park, and the former Ajax starlet is reported to be open to the move.
Should Liverpool sign Ryan Gravenberch?
Struggling for options in midfield, signing Gravenberch wouldn't exactly be a bad option for Liverpool.
Whilst the Dutchman's career has somewhat stalled in Germany, making just 24 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, he showed enough potential at Ajax to warrant a move to Bayern in the first place – potential that could finally come to fruition at Liverpool.
If the Premier League giants can get him back to his best, Gravenberch would certainly be an upgrade on the options that Klopp had at his disposal in the previous campaign, too.
Last season, when compared to Jordan Henderson, via FBref, the Dutchman made more blocks, more interceptions, more progressive carries, and enjoyed a better pass completion rate. Every way you look at it, Gravenberch would be an upgrade at Anfield.

He's earned plenty of deserved praise throughout his career, too, with former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van de Vaart telling Zigo Sport, via The Liverpool Echo: “Whether you’re sitting at home or watching (Gravenberch) in the stadium, he dominates. He’s big, strong and calm on the ball. He spins away and then has a gear and then another gear. He has basically everything."
Meanwhile, Gravenberch's former youth coach, Brian Tevreden, told Goal: “Physically, I see Frank [Rijkaard] in him from back in the day, because he’s tall and very strong.
"But technically, I would say he’s a better version of Pogba in his best days at Juventus. In terms of his technique and his presence on the pitch.”
So, it seems as though the 20-year-old represents a solid option for Liverpool, should they push on and attempt to secure his signature this summer.
From Gravenberch's perspective, a move away could be exactly what he needs to kickstart his career after a difficult spell at Bayern Munich.
As the transfer window ticks by, it's certainly a potential deal to keep an eye on.
Crystal Palace podcaster Dan Cook has claimed that Patrick Vieira's decision to remove Shaun Derry from his coaching staff may have been a factor in his dismissal as manager.
What happened with Vieira at Crystal Palace?
The former midfielder was appointed at the start of last season and led the Eagles to a 12th-place finish and an FA Cup semi-final, but a downturn in form has seen the club fail to win any of their games in 2023.
Vieira was eventually sacked after a run of three straight defeats, with his predecessor Roy Hodgson in talks to replace him.
Speaking on a Twitter Space, Cook pointed to the recent decision from Vieira to remove club hero Shaun Derry from his role on the coaching staff back in late January as a potentially contributing factor in his exit, as the decision may not have gone down well with some of the executives at the club.
He said: "I can't say this for sure, but Shaun Derry was removed from the coaching staff, I believe, at Patrick Vieira's request a few weeks ago. The suggestion was that his style of coaching didn't mesh with Pat's and I think, given Shaun Derry's reputation within the club, that that probably is something that's factored into this decision.
"It won't have been a call that was made with universal agreement, I would imagine, from the likes of Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman – I could be wrong there. But it doesn't seem to me to be an obvious call to make from everybody at the club, and if you are going to give someone like Patrick Vieira that freedom, and then the results and performances don't improve, I would suggest there is more to it than just the simple removal of a coaching member."
Did Vieira deserve the sack?
Whilst Palace's recent run of results has been dire, they did have a tough schedule to navigate.
Each of their last 11 league games came against teams who were above them in the table, and they still remain in 12th place – albeit just three points above the relegation zone.
It can be argued that Vieira deserved more time to manage the team until an easier set of fixtures came up and that he wasn't given the required backing in the transfer market.
Palace have struggled for goals this season and did not sign a striker in the last two windows. Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew have just one goal each this season, and with better quality up front, Vieira's side may have started picking up more points.
Making the change mid-season is a big risk, and if the next appointment is a poor one, it could cause disastrous consequences.
How much of a difference Shaun Derry will have made is unknown, but it is perhaps worth considering that his departure may have had a negative knock-on effect on the squad, which has inevitably helped lead to Vieira's sacking.
American international Matt Turner is a "serious candidate for Nottingham Forest" this summer, which could see the potential Dean Henderson deal collapse, per transfers expert Fabrizio Ronmano.
Is Matt Turner joining Nottingham Forest this summer?
In stark contrast to last year, Forest have only paid for two new signings so far this summer; Chris Wood from Newcastle United, who cost £15m and Anthony Elanga from Manchester United, who also cost £15m.
It looks like two could very quickly become three, however, as the Tricky Trees appear set to sign a new number one in the coming weeks.
United's Henderson has been touted for a move to the City Ground for much of the last 12 months following a loan spell last season, but in a surprising turn of events, Steve Cooper's side could be about to sign USMNT star Turner instead.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal's potential signing of Brentford's number one, David Raya, could open the door to the 29-year-old's exit, with Forest already in dialogue with him.
As with most deals, the most significant barrier to completion is the club's differing valuations. Arsenal are said to want £18m, considerably more than the Garibaldi would be willing to pay.
While there is still some way to go before a price can be agreed upon, the move certainly threatens to scupper Henderson's chance at returning to the City Ground, per transfers expert Fabrizio Romano.
He explained the situation on his YouTube channel, saying:
"Arsenal are going on David Raya because Matt Turner has a chance to go to Nottingham Forest, and this could see the Dean Henderson deal collapse.
"So, let's see who is going to win this race to be the new Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, Matt Turner or Dean Henderson.
"But at the moment, Turner is a serious candidate for Nottingham Forest on a permanent transfer, so this is the idea."
How does Matt Turner compare to Dean Henderson?
With the two keepers potentially vying for the single spot at Forest this summer, who would be the better transfer?
The first thing to note is that neither player made many appearances last season. Turner started 13 games across all competitions as he struggled to dislodge Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates, whereas Henderson started just 18 games due to an injury partway through the campaign.
That said, if we just took last season, the American comes out slightly ahead with an average rating of 6.73 and passing accuracy of 72.3%, per WhoScored. On the other hand, the once-capped Englishman averaged a rating of just 6.57 and a pretty poor passing accuracy of 56.8%, also per WhoScored.
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
When it comes to their underlying numbers, it is a bit more even, with the "insane" United man edging it 75.4% to 73.8% for save percentage and 39.5% to 22.5% for clean sheet percentage, per FBref.
However, the former MLS star comes out on top when it comes to passing ability, averaging 21 completed passes per 90 to Henderson's 15.2, and a total passing distance of 652.9 yards per 90 compared to just 540.3, also per FBref.
Ultimately, it looks like Cooper and Forest can't really lose regardless of which keeper they opt for, but perhaps with the "phenomenal" Turner, there is slightly more upside in his ball-playing ability.
Leeds United, having enjoyed a quieter period in the transfer window, now seem set to spring back into life as Daniel Farke seeks to push hard to bolster his squad…
Who could Leeds United sign this summer?
With Joel Piroe their latest big-name addition, the Dutchman rewarded his new club's faith in the market by firing home on his debut to hand them their first win of the Championship season.
It marks the start of what promises to be a very profitable career at Elland Road, with the ultimate goal of a Premier League return now firmly in their sights.

That aim could be handed another huge boost, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting another star they seem set to sign.
He wrote on Twitter:
"Leeds United have submitted official bid for Glen Kamara. Negotiations now at the final stages with Rangers. #LUFC Deal expected to be completed next week, player has already accepted."
Alternative reports have suggested that the Finland international will cost just £5.5m to pry from the Scottish giants, having agreed personal terms earlier in the week.
How good is Glen Kamara?
This acquisition would mark yet another quality addition to Farke's squad, which seems to finally be improving back to the requisite level to challenge at the right end of the table.
This is especially important given the mass exodus endured already this summer, with three permanent exits giving way to a further seven loan departures, many of which were formerly important first-team members.
Kamara would offer a huge upgrade on many of those though, with his performances in the Scottish Premiership over the years having drawn widespread praise.
Steven Gerrard had predicted such a fine career even after first signing the 27-year-old, claiming back in 2019:
"He looked like a Rangers player and he took that performance into the Kilmarnock game and went up a level again. He’s a terrific footballer in possession, always playing with his head up and looking to connect defence and attack.
"But what pleased me most is what I spoke about when we signed him in terms of how he’ll be out of possession. Will he hunt the ball back, be aggressive, work hard for the team and be a monster in the middle of the park? He showed signs of that against Kilmarnock and potentially he can become a top midfielder."
His performances during the 2021/22 season help to supplement this praise, as a relentless midfield warrior but with a surprising offensive impetus that likens him to Casemiro.
After all, he posted six goal contributions that campaign whilst maintaining a 91% pass accuracy, with his one tackle per game still admirable and helping towards his 7.01 average rating, via Sofascore. He remained a key cog in their success, happy to screen a back four but unafraid to push on and add to their attacks.
glen-kamara-2
Elsewhere, the Brazilian joined Manchester United from Real Madrid last summer in a move that baffled many.
It was expected that the 31-year-old would simply offer some solidity at the base of their engine room, but he instead came to create too, with his debut season allowing him to post a 7.21 average rating. This was a figure massively bolstered by his four goals and three assists, alongside his one key pass and mammoth 3.2 tackles per game, via Sofascore.
He is often everywhere, with pundit Robbie Savage noting back in May:
"When you’re listening to legends like Scholesy [Paul Scholes] and Owen [Hargreaves] speak about him, as a midfield player, I didn’t realise he has that much to his game: the passes round the corner, the goals."
He continued: "So I think he’s been terrific and has offered a lot more than what people thought. You listen to ex-managers and ex-players saying they weren’t sure but I think he’s proved, even Casemiro the captain of Brazil, has proven people wrong in the Premier League.”
In Auguat 2021, even Rangers Review editor Joshua Barrie went to lengths to highlight just how important Kamara was for Gerrard at Ibrox, making subtle references to players like the Red Devils star, among many other Premier League greats.
Both of these defensive midfielders boast an offensive impetus that has proven imperative for their respective teams, with Kamara likely hopeful that he can enjoy a similarly stunning debut season at Elland Road by continuing to emulate the play style of the legendary stopper.
The summer transfer window officially slams shut next week and Tottenham Hotspur could be busy as they attempt to find a new number nine to bolster their squad.
Who could Tottenham sign before the deadline?
Journalist Ben Jacobs recently named a number of strikers who could be in the running to arrive in north London over the next seven days; including Lautaro Martinez, Jonathan David, and Gift Orban.
However, the reporter has stated that the club are not in any rush to make a decision on who they want to sign as Ange Postecoglou has brought a sense of calmness to the operation.
Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…
The reporter claimed that David has been a concrete target for Spurs in the past under Fabio Paratici, but also stated that Lille's valuation of €65m (£56m) has put a number of teams off his trail.
How good is Jonathan David?
Postecoglou could land a big upgrade on current centre-forward Richarlison by opting to pursue a deal for the Canada international before next week's deadline.
David, who has scored one goal in two Ligue 1 games this season, has proven himself to be a reliable goalscorer in a major European league in recent years for Lille.
During the 2022/23 campaign, the prolific marksman averaged a superb Sofascore rating of 7.15, which would have placed him third with the Spurs squad, as he plundered 24 goals and created nine 'big chances' for his teammates in 37 league appearances.
That came after the 23-year-old marksman scored 15 goals and provided his fellow attackers with four 'big chances' across 38 Ligue 1 outings throughout the previous season, which shows that the gem has improved with more experience under his belt over the last two years.
Lille striker Jonathan David.
Richarlison, on the other hand, has failed to score or create a 'big chance' in either of his Premier League appearances this term after a disappointing debut campaign with Spurs.
The Brazil international averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.73 across 27 top-flight outings for the club last season as the ex-Everton forward produced one goal and zero 'big chances' provided.
These statistics show that the 26-year-old flop has struggled with Tottenham as he has not been able to muster up quality as a scorer or creator on a regular basis from a number nine or wide position since his move from Goodison Park.
Richarlison's return of ten goals and five assists in 30 league clashes for the Toffees during the 2021/22 campaign, which earned him a move to Spurs, is also less impressive than David's last two seasons with Lille in France.
This suggests that the Ligue 1 star has the potential to be a significant upgrade on the Brazilian dud due to his superior ability to find the back of the net on a consistent basis whilst also being able to create more 'big chances' for his teammates to score.
David, who was described as "a phenom" by broadcaster Tony Marinaro, has the potential to be a terrific scorer for Spurs if he can translate his performances over to English football as no current Tottenham player managed more than ten Premier League goals last season.
Therefore, Postecoglou could land a much-needed goal threat whilst also bringing in a big upgrade on Richarlison by securing a deal for the £56m-rated talent.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola faces one of the most important summer transfer windows since he arrived at the club nine years ago.
So often the dominant club in England, as evidenced by their six Premier League titles since 2017, the 2024/25 campaign has been one of disarray.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reacts withJamesMcAtee
Indeed, their only chance of silverware rests with the FA Cup. Guardiola has won this tournament twice since 2016 and will be out to make up for the defeat to Manchester United last season.
Kevin De Bruyne will depart City in the summer, and the club will need to find a replacement when the transfer window opens in a few weeks.
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has been targeted as a possible arrival, with the Daily Mail even claiming that the Etihad side are currently the frontrunners for his signature.
His club have placed a staggering £100m valuation on the former Wolves starlet. Might this deter City from making a potential move?
They have also been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz ahead of next season, and perhaps he would be the better option out of the two players.
Latest on Man City's interest in Florian Wirtz
According to Football Insider, Wirtz remains the number one target to replace De Bruyne this summer.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also keen, but it appears as though Guardiola will do everything to ensure the German international signs for City when the window opens.
It would be a sensational move, that’s for certain. Since making his senior debut for the club during the 2019/20 campaign, Wirtz has already amassed over 190 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 56 goals and grabbing 63 assists in the process.
Remarkably, he is still only 21, and if he did join City, the German could be the focal point of a new era under Guardiola.
When compared to his positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues, Wirtz ranks highly across a range of attacking metrics. Indeed, the attacking midfielder ranks in the top 7% for shot-creating actions, progressive passes, and successful take-ons per 90 over the previous 365 days.

These statistics certainly prove that he is among one of the finest in his position on the continent, and given the fact that he hasn’t even hit his peak yet, Guardiola must do everything in his power to bring the player to England.
Florian Wirtz’s market valuation at Bayer Leverkusen
Whatever happens, Leverkusen stand to make an enormous profit on the player who came through their youth system.
According to Football Transfers, Wirtz is currently valued at €116.4m (£100m) at the time of writing. There is no doubt the club will be seeking a transfer fee higher than that should he express his desire to leave Germany.
Florian Wirtz looks dejected
If he continues on his current upwards trajectory, Wirtz’s value will only soar. City do have a couple of players in their first-team squad who have a higher market valuation, however.
One such player has done so much for the club since he arrived in the summer of 2019 – Rodri.
How much Man City paid to sign Rodri
Having just won their second league title in a row, Guardiola was keen to keep the momentum going as the club headed into the 2019/20 campaign.
This saw them splash out a then club-record transfer fee of £62.8m to sign Rodri from Atlético Madrid.
“Rodri has proven himself as a hugely talented, young midfielder,” said director of football Txiki Begiristain.
“He has as all the attributes we are looking for.”
Six years later, the Spanish midfielder has proven why he might just be one of City’s finest signings under Guardiola.
Rodri has been a major success at Manchester City
Across his first three seasons in England, the midfielder missed just 12 Premier League matches for City, winning two league titles in the process.
The 2022/23 season was arguably his finest since making the move from Spain to Manchester. City finally claimed their first Champions League trophy, which was won alongside the domestic title and the FA Cup to complete a stunning treble.
He made a total of 56 appearances, registering 11 goal contributions for City throughout the entire season, and was the fulcrum of the side.
When compared to his positional peers in the Premier League that season, Rodri ranked in the top 1% for passes attempted (92.35) and pass completion percentage (91.2%), which showcased how effective he was at controlling matches from the heart of the midfield.
Following a stunning 2023/24 campaign, which culminated in the player helping Spain win Euro 2024, he was awarded the 2024 Ballon d’Or last October for his performance throughout the calendar year.
Kyle Walker lavished plenty of praise on his teammate in the aftermath, saying: “For him, it’s absolutely fantastic. I think he’s been nothing short of probably perfect in the last couple of seasons. You can see what he means to Man City.”
How much is he currently worth, however?
Rodri’s market valuation at Manchester City
According to Transfermarkt, Rodri is now valued at a whopping €130m (£111m), and this could even rise further should he return to the player he was before suffering an ACL injury last September.
Indeed, this value is even higher than Wirtz’s value and proves just how excellent a signing the Spaniard has been for the club over the previous six years, showing that City have hit the jackpot with him.
It may not be a coincidence that City’s performance levels declined, missing out on the title for the first time in five years, when they couldn’t call on the 28-year-old after his injury.
He will return shortly, and a solid pre-season will ensure the player returns to full fitness ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, that’s for sure.
Wirtz would make for a sublime signing if Guardiola can stump up the cash, but his business in the past suggests he has struck gold on someone like Rodri.
Man City have struck gold on "exceptional" gem worth more than Kerkez
City have hit the jackpot on a current academy graduate who is starring under Guardiola.
Aston Villa have enjoyed a solid start to their 2023/24 campaign, losing just once across their opening four games and while that defeat was a heavy one – going down 5-1 against Newcastle United – Unai Emery will use that as a lesson going forwards.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a productive summer transfer window, signing players such as Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo as he aimed to improve the quality of his squad.

With just a few days left before deadline day, Emery still has the chance to bring in another player or two while moving on some deadwood, and it could be a frantic few days at Villa Park.
Who will Aston Villa sign next?
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Villa are showing interest in Barcelona winger Ez Abde ahead of deadline day, although they could face stiff competition from German side Bayer Leverkusen for his signature.
The Catalan giants value the youngster at around €30m (£26m) and much will depend on whether Emery is willing to stump up this type of fee in order to lure him to the Premier League.
Could he replace a current Villa player who appears destined for the exit door before Friday?
Is Philippe Coutinho leaving Aston Villa?
It certainly appears as though the Brazilian star is edging closer to a move away from the club, with The Daily Mail claiming that he has an offer to join Qatari champions Al-Duhail.
Having cost Steven Gerrard €20m (£17m) last summer following a loan spell where he scored five times and grabbed three assists in 19 games, the 2022/23 season was less impressive.
Indeed, he managed to score just once across 22 matches in all competitions, and it appears as though he has fallen down the pecking order under Emery, giving the manager a licence to ditch him for someone like Abde.
The 21-year-old made his Barcelona debut during the 2021/22 season, and he was lauded by coach Xavi after he netted his first goal for the club in December 2021, hailing him as “extraordinary” along with a host of other young talents including Gavi.
He spent last season on loan at Osasuna and suitably impressed, scoring six goals and registering two assists in all competitions.

The youngster ranked fifth across the squad for goals and assists in the top flight (six), while also ranking third for shots on target (0.6) and first for successful dribbles per game (2.1) as he showcased his attacking talents away from the pressures of life at Barcelona.
Coutinho in comparison, ranked 12th among those at Villa for goals and assists (one), fourth for shots on target (0.4) and sixth for successful dribbles per game (0.7), failing to have any sort of impact on the team when he did play.
These statistics clearly show that the Moroccan gem had a more productive campaign than the Villa dud and given that he has yet to turn 22 means there is plenty of time for him to continue his development in England.
It could be a wonderful piece of business should Emery convince him that playing at Villa is a better proposition than starring for Barcelona, but stranger things have happened.
Everton are now considering a loan move for Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, who could be brought in as an alternative to Leeds United's Wilfried Gnonto, according to a report from Sky Sports.
What's the latest Everton transfer news?
Demarai Gray has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park, and journalist Paul Brown believes the Everton boss would let him leave for a suitable fee this summer, saying:
"I don't really think that Sean Dyche is that high on Demarai Gray. If the price is right from any of those clubs showing interest, I think they would let him go.
"It's clear that Everton don't have much of a transfer budget at the moment this summer. They will need to generate cash with sales if Dyche wants to bring in anybody else in areas of the squad that they have a greater need.
"I do still think that if anybody puts down serious money for Demarai Gray this summer, he probably will go."
As such, Sean Dyche may need to think about bringing in new wide options, and Gnonto has emerged as one of his key targets, with it recently being reported the Toffees are leading the race for his signature, in what could be a £20m deal.
According to a recent report from Sky Sports, however, Everton may be growing frustrated in their pursuit of the Italian, and they could give up on their attempts to sign him, after having multiple approaches rejected by Leeds.
The Toffees are now running the rule over other targets, and they are looking at a loan deal for Sulemana, who they attempted to sign from Rennes during the January transfer window, before he opted to move to St. Mary's.
A deal for Gnonto is still not beyond the realms of possibility, however Leeds would need to soften their stance, having consistently knocked back the Merseyside club's advances up to this point.
How good is Kamaldeen Sulemana?
Despite the Saints' relegation from the Premier League, the Ghanaian had a strong end to the 2022/23 campaign, finding the back of the net twice in a man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool on the final day of the season.
They were the only two goals the £40k-per-week winger managed to score in a Southampton shirt, but he now has Premier League experience under his belt, and he could kick on next season if he gets a move back to the top flight.
One of the Techiman-born attacker's best attributes is his dribbling, ranking in the 99th percentile for successful take-ons per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers.
Lauded as an "excellent ball carrier" by members of the media, the former Rennes man is too good to be playing in the Championship next season, and if a loan deal is possible, Everton should definitely try and make it happen.
Dyche only has a limited budget to work with this summer, and Sulemana could be a fantastic low-cost alternative to Gnonto, with Leeds seemingly unwilling to let the 19-year-old leave.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to announce the signings of both striker Alejo Veliz and defender Micky van de Ven "later this week" as Fabrizio Romano shares exciting news.
Who have Spurs signed?
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, exciting youngster Ashley Phillips, playmaker James Maddison and winger Manor Solomon have all officially been confirmed as new Spurs signings.
The quartet follow on from permanent deals for both Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski, who join Tottenham indefinitely after their respective loan spells last season.
Manager Ange Postecoglou, speaking to the press recently, has claimed there will be more activity at Spurs before September 1, as the north Londoners seek another defender and look to offload players.
“It's not done yet," said Postecoglou.
"We need bolstering in that central defensive area. We need defenders who can work in an aggressive formation, defend well & behind them. We'll be looking to bring in a couple in that area in the coming days."
The Spurs head coach, when asked about possible outgoings, also said there are certain squad members who want to "explore opportunities" elsewhere.
Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…
“It's fair to say our squad is too big at the moment," explained Postecoglou.
"There are guys who will want to explore opportunities elsewhere. I'm not involved in that. I think we'll see some movement out in the coming weeks.”
Van de Ven and Veliz, who appear set to join from Rosario Central and Wolfsburg respectively, will come in to bolster both the defensive area and further forward.
Veliz produced his best goal return in a Rosario shirt over the most recent Argentine first division campaign, while van de Ven was a mainstay and crucial player under Niko Kovac in the Bundesliga last term.
The duo could seriously strengthen Postecoglou's ranks and renowned transfer journalist Romano has an exciting update on the pair.
Alejo Veliz
Indeed, they're apparently undergoing medical tests in London, and will be unveiled as new Tottenham players "later this week".
"Micky van de Ven and Alejo Véliz, both undergoing first part of medical tests as new Tottenham players," wrote Romano on X.
"Official statement will follow later this week for van de Ven and Véliz to be unveiled as new Spurs players."
Van de ven and Veliz will come as Tottenham's seventh and eighth summer signings, including the Porro and Kulusevski deals.
What will van de Ven bring to Tottenham?
Veliz, just 19, could be seen as one more for the future but van de Ven could come straight in and reinforce Postecoglou's fragile backline.
micky-van-de-ven
Spurs conceded a pretty woeful 63 league goals last term, so the 22-year-old's solidarity and composure on the ball will come as a big boost.
According to WhoScored, van de Ven made more blocks per 90 than any other Wolfsburg player in the German top flight over 2022/2023 – all the while ranking among their best for clearances made.
Van de ven is also an adept ball-playing centre-back, averaging a higher passing accuracy than every Wolfsburg regular last term (WhoScored).
Indeed, it speaks volumes that Kovac selected the centre-back more than any other outfielder at Wolfsburg over the most recent campaign.
Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion haven't the most extensive history of playing one another in English football. Still, they aren't strangers either, facing off 31 times since their first meeting over a century ago in 1909 – a game the hosts won 1-0. Football FanCast has everything you need to know as the two teams prepare to meet again in the Premier League.
While it's still early in the season, the four games already played can give us some idea of the teams' form going into their clash at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Despite their traditional role of the underdog in the fixture over the years, it's probably Brighton that go into the game as favourites thanks to their impressive win over Newcastle United last time out and generally excellent performances so far this year.
In fact, the only game they have lost so far was their home tie against West Ham, which they ended up losing 3-1 despite coming away with twice as many shots and 78% possession.
For their part, United have struggled to find their rhythm so far, escaping their opening game against Wolverhampton Wanderers with all three points despite their performance. Their following three games have seen them come away from North London with two defeats courtesy of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
That said, the Red Devils are still a brilliant side, and a home game against the all-action Brighton could be precisely what they need to get their season well and truly underway.
Man United vs Brighton: What's their head-to-head record?
Man United's Christian Eriksen
In total, Man United and Brighton have only met 31 times since their initial meeting all the way back in 1909, meaning they have averaged just a single meeting every three and a half years since then.
In reality, the lack of competitive games between the sides is mainly down to a gap of 70 years between their meetings in 1909 and 1979, as the Seagulls spent a significant portion of their existence in the lower leagues.
It's a fixture that has, unsurprisingly, come to be dominated by United, with the three-time European Champions coming away victors 19 times, sharing the spoils six times and coming away losers just six times.
In fact, it's only in the last few years that the South Coast club have been able to mount a genuine challenge thanks to their meteoric rise up the footballing pyramid.

Man United vs Brighton: What's their record at Old Trafford?
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo
Well, to call the games at Old Trafford one-sided would still probably be an understatement; the Red Devils have won 12 of the 15 games held in the northwest – a genuinely impressive win rate of 80%.
Brighton, on the other hand, have only come away from the Theatre of Dreams with all three points once in their history, thanks to a 2-1 win in August of last year – a win rate of just 6.6%.

Man United vs Brighton: What's their record at Brighton?
The results on the south coast make for slightly nicer reading for the Seagulls, although they still come away from home games as the losers more often than not.
In the 13 times that Brighton have hosted the Red Devils, they have emerged victorious five times, most recently in May of this year following a 1-0 victory in the league.
For their part, United have won six games when playing away at Brighton, most recently in September 2020 in a League Cup game.

Man United vs Brighton: What's their record at neutral venues?
Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst involved for Manchester United in their FA Cup semi-final clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley Stadium.
The two sides have only ever met on neutral ground three times in their histories, but interestingly, they have all been in FA Cup Finals or Semi-Finals.
Their first meeting came in the 1983 Final, and it saw the Seagulls take the lead before United equalised, and the game ended 2-2, which in those days meant a replay was in store. Unfortunately for Brighton, the replay was a disaster, and their northern competitors ran away 4-0 winners to claim their fifth title.
Their third meeting was in last season's semi-final and saw United come away winners following a tense penalty shootout after the match ended 0-0 after extra time.

Man United vs Brighton: Which team has the most goals?
Brighton & Hove Albion'sEvanFergusoncelebrates scoring their fourth goal
Again, it probably won't come as a massive surprise to you to hear that United are the more prolific team in front of goal in this fixture's history. In fact, it hasn't even been close when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net.
In total, the Red Devils have scored 50 goals in their 31 meetings, which equates to 1.6 goals per game.
Brighton have scored precisely half as many goals, slotting just 25 past United's number ones over the years. Their goals-per-game ratio is also a lot less impressive at only 0.8.

Man United vs Brighton: What happened in last season's fixtures?
United and Brighton played each other three times last season, with the most high-profile of the games being their FA Cup semi-final clash. As mentioned before, it was a nervy game that was decided on penalties after neither side could find the killer blow in 120 minutes.
Erik ten Hag's men scored all seven of their penalties, whereas Brighton's Solly March missed his, sending his side crashing out of the competition.
While United came away victorious from Wembley Stadium, it was Roberto De Zerbi who had the last laugh in the league, winning both home and away to do the double over the competition for the first time in the club's history.
The game at Old Trafford ended 2-1 in the Seagulls' favour, while they left the Amex 1-0 winners in early May.
Man United vs Brighton: What is Man United's biggest win?
Man United's biggest win over Brighton came back in 1983 – before the Sir Alex Ferguson era – when the club came away 4-0 winners away from home in the FA Cup.
Club legend Bryan Robson opened the scoring on 25 minutes before Norman Whiteside added another five minutes later, with Robson adding a third on the stroke of halftime.
With the tie effectively over, United seemingly took their foot ever so slightly off the gas and scored just a single goal in the second half courtesy of an Arnold Muhren penalty.
Man United vs Brighton: What is Brighton's biggest win?
Brighton's biggest win actually matches United's at 4-0, only their win is a lot more recent. The Seagulls thoroughly outplayed and dispatched a demoralised and lacklustre United side in May 2022.
The game was one of Ralf Rangnick's last ones as manager and couldn't have gone much worse.
The then fairly unknown Moises Caicedo opened the scoring on the 15th minute. However, in the second half, things really started to go wrong for United as Marc Cucurella doubled the score on 49 minutes before Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard took the game away from Rangnick's men before the 60th minute.
Man United vs Brighton: What are the recent results?
Interestingly, even though United has generally dominated the fixture, the last five games tell a very different story. In fact, if you were just to look at their previous five encounters, you would be forgiven for thinking that Brighton were the bigger side.
In their last five games, United have only won two, with one of those being their FA Cup penalty triumph. Brighton, on the other hand, have won three of the last five, including their double last season and their 4-0 win the season before.
Man United vs Brighton: When is it?
Erik ten Hag
Man United host Brighton on Saturday 16th September at 3pm British Summer Time. Whilst this fixture hasn't always been one of the traditional big-ticket clashes in English football, the recent levelling of the playing field has made it a must-watch for Premier League fans, and both sides will be going into it with their own very different motivations.
United will be desperate to put their defeat away to Arsenal behind them with a convincing home win over a side that so many have been raving about in recent weeks. Not only that, but ten Hag will also want to see how new striker Rasmus Hojlund gets on in what would surely be the perfect game to give him his full-league debut.
Brighton, on the other hand, will want to keep their excellent form going for as long as possible and show the rest of the footballing world that the team that played Newcastle was the real Brighton, not the one that lost to West Ham.
The Seagulls will have their own players looking to make a mark; with Evan Ferguson now the talk of the league, what better place to prove you're the real deal than at the Theatre of Dreams?
Overall, this should be an exhilarating game to watch on Saturday, with high-octane action and goals galore.
